KinderBike has changed very little since it's inception on the banks of the Isar River, in the tiny Bavarian village of Lenggries, Germany in 2004. Heinz Petzold gave his grandson Luke a laufrad (run bike) for his second birthday and KinderBike was born. KinderBike introduced the first run bikes to the North American market in 2005. Since then, hundreds of thousands of young riders - some as young as 18 months - have fine tuned their balance, coordination and agility and learned to ride. KinderBike afforded parents a mechanism to get their kids outside and active as they glided along side of them on short walks. KinderBike's commitment to quality bolstered it's reputation and encouraged both traditional bicycle retailers and parents to ditch training wheels in favor of this "balance-first" method. Since then, the "balance-first" method has been widely accepted as the most effective way to teach young children to ride a bike and has spurred a host of imitators. Today, KinderBike remains the leading manufacturer of high-end trainers and is widely regarded as the leading innovator of quality balance trainers.
Laufrad Series
Kinderbike set out to design a trainer suitable for the youngest of riders:
Mission accomplished! The Laufrad series are engineered with an
extremely low center of gravity to prevent accidental tip-overs, offer
the lowest saddle height on the market (11" for the MINI and 12" for the regular Laufrad) to accommodate the
shortest legs and are extremely lightweight and maneuverable (as light
as 7.1 lbs). More importantly, we didn't have to sacrifice quality
in the process: 6061 aluminum alloy frame, child-friendly V-brake,
puncture resistant all-terrain tires with alloy rims and more. Simply
put, there is absolutely no other comparable trainer on the market.
It's no wonder the KinderBike Laufrad series was rated "The Best" by
the New York Times in a recent gear test of popular run bikes. Morph SeriesWhat happens when you combine America's most popular run bike with a
patent-pending Plug-n-Play Drive? You get Morph - the first of its
kind Balance-Hybrid. It starts off as a run bike. When your child has
mastered balance, you simply add the drive train for a fully operational
bicycle. The quality you've come to expect from KinderBike....taken to a
whole new level. (Fall, 2011)
